THE best businesses in Scotland and Ireland were honoured by Causeway: Ireland Scotland Business Exchange at their annual awards dinner, with seven outstanding organisations and individuals selected as winners from more than 20 nominations in a range of categories.
The sixth annual awards ceremony took place in the Assembly Rooms in Edinburgh, with host Claire Kinnaird welcoming guests for an event that is now a fixture in the calendar of businesses on either side of the Irish Sea.
Relying on a panel of experts to help them narrow down the selection, judges looked at the impact and activities of nominees over the last year, at a time when Causeway is providing vital support for trade between Scotland and Ireland.
From that selection, the seven winners chosen were as follows:

“As an organisation dedicated to promoting collaboration between businesses on both sides of the Irish Sea, our annual awards event, supported by headline sponsor Johnnie Walker Princes Street, recognises business excellence across seven awards and celebrates the success of Irish, Northern Irish and Scottish businesses,” Causeway said.
“More than 200 industry leaders and professionals attended our black-tie ceremony, hosted by radio presenter, Claire Kinnaird. Featured guest speakers included the Lord Provost of the City of Edinburgh Robert Aldridge, MSP Ivan McKee, and Consul General of Ireland, Edinburgh, Jane McCulloch.
“23 organisations and individuals were shortlisted as finalists after the first round of judging with winners chosen by a panel of expert judges.
“It was our pleasure to present the Causeway: Ireland Scotland Business Awards 2022 winners. Congratulations to all of the winners and to the runner ups. You are all doing fantastic work and we are delighted to have you as a part of our ever-growing network. Thank you to everyone who came last night, with an especially massive thank you to all of our sponsors. We would not have been able to pull off such an incredible celebration of business without all of your support.”
With further events planned in both Scotland and Ireland, Causeway are hoping that the recent awards ceremony will inspire and encourage members to make next year a success, both for their own businesses and for Causeway collectively.
Up next are a trio of events, taking place in both Edinburgh and Dublin, and targeting a number of areas where Causeway can provide the vital connections and support to continue strengthening trade across the Irish Sea.
Dublin will host a social networking event this month, on November 17, while Edinburgh will host a similar event the following week, allowing professionals in both countries to have the opportunity to make connections within the network and introduce new members to benefits of Causeway.
The following day in Edinburgh, November 25 will see Causeway help equip its members for the challenges of Environmental, Social and Governance rules, as well as highlighting opportunities, with an ESG Seminar in the Waldorf Astoria.
Looking ahead to the event, Causeway illustrated the benefits to businesses of greater alignment with ESG rules and possibility of gaining an advantage over competitors.
“Supported by Enterprise Ireland and sponsored by Pulse Market, The Causeway Network seminar will look at how best to gain in competitive advantage from ESG and Supplier Management by hearing from key industry experts who share their best practice in leveraging ESG and supplier management and showcasing how these strategies can be implemented across your business to gain success,” Causeway said. “Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) rules, alignment and enhancements have been at the heart of many business requirements in recent years; none more so than with the rise of awareness following the success of COP26 in Glasgow in 2021. Businesses are now looking for their suppliers to act and align with their own vision. So what actions and tactics are available to your business on these hot topics.
“The Causeway Network ESG and Supplier Management Business Seminar will bring together a panel of industry experts from Scottish and Irish blue-chip businesses, procurement bid teams and ESG/Net Zero to share and discuss the biggest challenges businesses face today in relation to ESG and Supplier Management.
“Don’t miss out on this fantastic opportunity to hear from leaders in this field, take-away actions and tactics to drive benefit and competitive advantage to your business. Alongside the opportunity to network and exchange ideas with likeminded businesses across Scotland, Ireland and Northern Ireland. Keep up to date with key requirements and challenges for ESG, Due Diligence, Procurement and Supplier Management and stay one step ahead of the competition.”
