Pop-up Irish Centre at Graces has been a great success

The Irish Voice

A POP-UP Irish Centre at Grace’s Bar in Glasgow has been a declared a resounding success.

Since the summer, the bar’s venue has played host to Irish lessons delivered by Evin Downey of Conradh na Gaeilge (above) and a series of talks by Dr Joseph Bradley related to Irish history and culture.

Grace’s events co-ordinator, Paddy Gunning, has been so enthused by the response to these events that he is looking to build upon them this year.

“It’s been a great success and we’d really love to do more going forward,” he said. “The talks by Dr Joe Bradley were fantastic and the Irish lessons have been well-received and well-attended too. Hopefully we can hold more lessons in 2025 and we’re looking at having the McQuade School of Irish Dancing coming in to offer introductory lessons to see if boys and girls are interested in learning it and perhaps taking it further. I’d like to try and offer music lessons too.”

Paddy has also spoken about trying to reach out to the Irish community throughout Glasgow and its environs with events such as history walks and musical events.
